Problems with Clicking on Email Links
It has come to our attention that there is a problem with using the Chrome browser in conjunction with Google’s web-based Gmail. Clicking on an email link in the Chrome browser does not open a new email window; instead, it either opens an empty browser tab or does nothing at all. It’s easy to check whether you are impacted by this problem; simply click on the email link below:
If clicking on the above link opens an email window, you do not have the problem. If either a blank browser tab opens or nothing at all happens, then you are affected by the problem. There are a couple of workarounds. Of course, you can choose to use a different browser or an email client application instead of Gmail, but the simplest by far is to right-click on the email link and choose “Copy email address” from the menu that appears. Then, open a new email window, place the cursor in the address field, and use the Paste command.
This is a Google Chrome and Gmail issue that has nothing to do with Shared Learning; therefore, the above workaround may be used on any email link anywhere on the Internet.
