COVID and Respiratory Illness Policy
The majority of Shared Learning participants are facing wellness concerns for the spread of communicable diseases, including the COVID virus. Therefore, Shared Learning strongly recommends that members do not participate in on-site functions if they have symptoms of illness. Furthermore, members who prefer wearing masks are encouraged to do so.

General Code of Conduct
A major Shared Learning goal is to promote thoughtful discussion that respects the diverse positions, beliefs and traditions held by class participants. Moderators and class members are expected to conduct civil discussions in a manner ensuring mutual respect among one another regardless of personal background, religion, cultural and work experience. The Board assumes responsibility for ensuring that this Code of Conduct is followed. Any Shared Learning class participant who feels that this Code is not being adhered to should first bring this concern to the moderator for resolution. If they feel the issue remains unresolved, either moderator or class member(s) may subsequently inform the Board at concerns@slach.org. The Board’s designee will investigate and attempt to facilitate adherence to the Code.

Inclement Weather Policy

All in-person (on-site) Shared Learning classes are canceled when Chapel Hill–Carrboro public schools are closed because of bad weather. When public schools are not closed but open late, the 9:30 a.m. Shared Learning classes are canceled, while 11:30 and later classes meet unless canceled by the course moderator. The same policy applies to all Shared Learning events, such as lectures and social gatherings.
